5 Weight Loss Tips October 2, 2008

1. Keep A Food Journal

I use my iPhone – but a small pad and paper will work just fine. Write down in general terms what you ate – food, portions, etc. and how your body feels – sluggish, bloated, etc. It will help you figure out what foods are best for you.

2. Avoid hidden sugar

We all know that a fat slice of birthday cake has sugar – but what about the beverages you drink? We get a lot of hidden calories in that Starbucks Moca – that are easy to consume and not very filling.

3. Fiber is your friend

Include some fiber at the first part of a meal. Vegetables are a great source, but in a pinch there are some really tasty instant fiber drinks (Special K, Crystal Light, etc.) that mix with water and will curb the amount of food you consume if you drink before a meal.

4. Restrict, don’t eliminate!

You are going to eat chocolate again. The key is to find ways to enjoy without gulttony. A Hershey’s kiss is just as chocolaty as a huge piece of chocolate cake.

5. The banquet is in the first bite

Chew your food slow – you will find that the flavors are much more satisfying, and you will get full on less. Often times we eat too much because we eat too fast, and we dont let the body naturally tell us when to stop.

These are just 5 of the 49 tips that where included in the free exercise and diet training tips. Some of the other 44 really surprised me and had a big impact on my weight loss success (especially when I learned how to to make 15 minutes of exercise as as effective as 60 minutes! )
